About Me
Yegane Mehrzad is an Iranian artist based in the Netherlands. Her practice takes root from her defiance against lived oppression, with a strong kinship for the abandoned, outcast, and deep love for the unknown.
In her work, she explores the hidden forces in life and intertwined threads of human relationships with the world through the lens of herself, woman, and multispecies, of human, non-human, nature, entities, deities, and spiritual dimensions through experimental methods, visual work, storytelling, and embodied practices.
With an insatiable curiosity for myths, stories, rituals, magic, occult, and things outside of conventional understandings, she explores old and new modes of knowledge while drawing inspiration from her cultural heritage. Led by an intuitive process, with imagination as an intrinsic component, and shaped around participation, her practice becomes a vessel for reimagining humans’ relationship with the world and examining the tension between fear and love-excitement for the unknown.
She is part of the Crow Stitch Collective.
